Unmissable events and food and wine
One of the most traditional events is the Gran Festa del Desmontegar, which every year celebrates the ritual of transhumance, a 4-day celebration in which cows decorated with flowers and coloured ornaments and surrounded by more than 15,000 tourists, come down from the alpine dairy farms for the winter.
During a holiday in Valle del Primiero-San Martino di Castrozza a taste of alpine dairy products is a must. These include the carne fumada of Siror, the Tosèla and the Botìro di Malga, a special butter listed by the Slow Food organisation.
